About Similar Picture Find
The Similar Picture Find is a freeware product for searching duplicate and similar pictures in large collections of picture files (wallpapers, photos, textures, etc.). It supports all well-known picture file formats including
bmp (dib), gif, jpg (jpeg, jpe, jfif), png, tif (tiff). If you want to find out is there any duplicate pictures on your hard drive the Similar Picture Find is what you really need.

System requirements
Approximate requirements are:
- Intel® Pentium-class processor and above
- 64 MB of RAM
- 10 MB of free disk space
- Microsoft Windows® XP, Windows Vista, Windows Seven
- Pointing device
Program installation and deinstallation
To install the program:
- Insert media or open folder where Installation Package located. Use Windows Explorer to locate the Installation Package
- Run Installation Wizard by double-clicking the executable file to start the installation
- Click Next button and follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard
- Complete Installation and close Wizard
To Uninstall the program:
- Open the Windows Control Panel
- Locate and open Add/Remove Programs
- Find the application name in the list and double-click it
- Follow the Uninstall Wizard's instructions and complete Uninstall
Process of duplicate and similar picture search
To begin the work with pictures you need to add pictures to picture repository first. When the program started click File->Add To Repository from main menu
Then in the Browse For Folder dialog locate the folder which contains the pictures and click OK. The program will search the picture files in selected folder and all subfolders and fill the picture repository.
You can select any file in repository and it will be shown in the Preview area. If there is the picture file that program couldn't load (possibly damaged) it will be marked with red color.
After that you can click File->Add To Repository again and add some more pictures from another folder and so on.
Also you can remove any specified file from repository. To do that you select the file in repository and click File->Remove From Repository.
If you would like you can save information about pictures in repository to file by selecting File->Save Repository... main menu item and then load it at any time by selecting File->Open Repository... main menu item.
When all pictures added with Similar Picture Find you can:
- Test for duplicates or similar pictures all pictures in repository
- Find similar pictures in repository for one selected picture
Then the Similar Picture Find will start to compare pictures and show the progress. After it stops you can look for similar pictures in repository by clicking Next Similar button. When you click Next Similar the pgorgram will navigate to picture which has list of similar pictures you can see if you expand the tree branch.
(In this example the file "DSC03022 - Copy.JPG" is similar to "DSC03022.JPG").
You can delete file by clicking Delete File... button or open file with associated program by clicking Open File... button or open Windows Explorer with picture file selected by clicking Find File... button.
Also you can filter results of search with selector next to buttons block.
Another way is to find similar pictures in repository for one selected picture. Select the Action->Search Similar... from main menu.
Then in Open dialog select the picture file you want to test with repository pictures and press OK. The program will add selected picture to repository and compare all pictures from repository with selected picture.
Program Settings
To open program settings select File->Program Settings... menu item. The Program Settings dialog window will be shown. There are two sections in the dialog. The first one is General.
Threshold value is a similarity depth criteria. When two pictures compared the result of comparison is a value from 0 to 100. The value of 0 means the pictures are identical. The value of 100 means the pictures are different. When the result is less than threshold value program treats pictures as similar.
The Shape only comparison option defines the algorithm's behavior regarding to color. If this option is set the picture do not analyse color difference.
The second section of the Program Settings dialog is a File Formats.
